Generally Windows runs extremely well on Mac hardware when there are BootCamp drivers for the hardware. I think running Windows in a hypervisor, even the free variety, is a much better solution. But you would have to maintain macOS on that drive.īootCamp is ok, but Windows native support (with or without BootCamp drivers) for Mac hardware is, IMHO, mediocre at best. It could still be done if you install macOS to an external drive. The only way you're going to be able to install it is via macOS.

Of course I'm sure people will bring up many other reasons to not run Windows on a Mac. I'm curious as to why? What's the point of having a Mac with only Windows? I mean, BootCamp is ok, but Windows native support (with or without BootCamp drivers) for Mac hardware is, IMHO, mediocre at best. But you would have to maintain macOS on that drive. And doing that might not seem like an issue for you, until there's a firmware update for your hardware. Then install Windows and use the drivers you extracted. Opening cmd during the install and running Diskpart would be the easiest way. Windows media will boot on the system, and you will need to wipe the drive.
You will need to download the BootCamp image, then extract it for the drivers. You can install Windows only, but as Dave just said, it's not supported.
